The theme for this edition would be “Rural Broadband Technologies and Applications for Citizens services”. This year, we are bringing together the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) on a common platform, with an objective to identify key applications, major challenges and optimum technology requirements for implementation of broadband in rural India. The summit shall see an elite panel of a mix of Policy Makers, Industry and Academia comprising of Ms. Rita Teaotia, Special Secretary (DoT), Ms. Aruna Sundararajan, Administrator (USOF), Dr. Rajendra Kumar, Joint Secretary (E-Gov.) DEiTY,Mr. A. N. Rai, CMD, BSNL and Mr. Prashant Shukla, NTO, Microsoft India, among others.
In our effort to provide a platform for Government Departments, Industry and Academia to share their views and roadmap for connecting Rural India, we intend to contribute through TCOEs’ research capability in fulfilling the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream of “Adarsh Gram”. The event assumes significance following the commissioning of India’s first hi-speed rural broadband network in Kerala’s tribal Idukki district on 12th January 2015, ushering in a new era of Digital India. Discussions shall take place on how rural broadband would open up new avenues of growth in rural areas.
