The Chandigarh Administration will be celebrating Chandigarh Carnival, a mega tourism event from 25th to 27thNovember 201. A site meeting to review the progress of ongoing work was convened by the Finance Secretary UT Sh.V.K.Singh alongwith MD CITCO, Chief Engineer UT and senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation. This year, the theme of the Chandigarh Carnival is “Jaadunagiri-explore the magical world”.

The three day event will have lot of activities of Fun & Frolic, cultural performances; magic shows at the Carnival village. Film city on Kashmir Bollywood theme by ITFT alongwith J &K Government shall be major attraction amongst cine lovers and youngsters to promote cinematic tourism .Amusement park, Food court & stalls displaying varied form of art and entertainment shall be a special feature of Chandigarh Carnival attraction for visitors, besides above, two Mega Musical Nites on 26th & 27th November 2011 by renowned Bollywood Singers and Punjabi artists will be held for the visitors and tourists as every year Carnival  attracts large number of citizens of tricity- Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali besides the tourists and visitors who happen to visit city during these days.

               The tableaux and other display features in the Carnival Parade will be based on the theme “Jaadunagiri-explore the magical world. The Carnival Parade will be flagged off from the main gate of the Chandigarh Carnival Village passing through Matka Showk to Cricket Stadium Roundabout and further going into Sector 22 market and then turning from Hotel Aroma crossing and culminating at Shopping Plaza near Neelam Cinema in Sector 17  .The parade will have the participation of various college students and participants clad in colourful costumes, magical masks and Carnival Caps with floats rolling out with depictions of animated , jadunagri and magic world characters.

A special emphasis has been laid on the theme while setting up the stalls in Carnival village .More than 30 stalls will be given the shape of a magician hut with round colourful roof. The 25 feet main gate will in the shape of a huge dome structure with magical caricatures to welcome all the visitors especially kids and toddlers. On the inaugural day, there will be colourful performances by cultural troupes from different States of India to be arranged by North Zone cultural Centre.

Elaborate arrangements are being made for security set up at the Carnival village in Leisure Valley Sector 10 and by the Chandigarh police with the installation of CCTV cameras, machaans for overview and vigilance by police personnel. The whole Carnival village shall be illuminated with special lighting effects.
