              नवीन एवं नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा मंत्रालय के शोध एवं विकास संस्‍थान सौर ऊर्जा केन्‍द्र (एसईसी) तथा दिल्‍ली तकनीकि विश्‍वविद्यालय (डीटीयू) ने आज नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा के क्षेत्र में संयुक्‍त शोध एवं शिक्षा के कार्यक्रम के लिए एक सहमति पत्र पर हस्‍ताक्षर किए। सहमति पत्र पर एसईसी के निदेशक डॉ. बिबेक बंदोपाध्‍याय, डीटीयू के उप कुलपति प्रोफेसर पी बी शर्मा और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा मंत्रालय में सचिव श्री गिरीश बी. प्रधान ने हस्‍ताक्षर किए।

इसके अंतर्गत डीटीयू के एम. टेक छात्रों के लिए संयुक्‍त एम. टेक थीसिस और प्रैक्टिकल पाठ्यक्रम, संयुक्‍त पीएचडी कार्यक्रम, डीटीयू फैकल्‍टी के साथ संयुक्‍त शोध एवं परामर्श परियोजनाएं और उद्योग के लिए पुनश्‍चर्या पाठ्यक्रम तथा संयुक्‍त सम्‍मेलन और कार्यशालाओं का आयोजन किया जाएगा। इस सहमति से सौर ऊर्जा में शिक्षा ले रहे एम. टेक छात्रों को सौर तापीय, सौर शीतलन तथा सौर फोटोवोल्टिक आदि के लिए प्रोत्‍साहन मिलेगा।

नवीन एवं नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा मंत्रालय का शोध एवं विकास संस्‍थान एसईसी, सौर ऊर्जा तकनीकियों के विकास पर काम करता है और इससे सबंधित विज्ञान एवं अभियांत्रिकी के आधुनिकीकरण में योगदान देता है। डीटीयू देश का एक प्रमुख तकनीकि एवं अभियांत्रिकी संस्‍थान है। इन दोनों संस्‍थानों के सहयोग से देश में नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा को बढ़ावा मिलने की संभावना है।

समझौते के प्रावधानों को लागू करने के लिए एक ज्‍वाइंट एकेडमिक इंटरफेस कमिटी (जेएआईसी) के गठन का प्रावधान किया गया।

A Spokesman of the Education Department said here today that the Department was implementing merit-cum-means scholarship and post matric scholarship schemes for students of minorities and added that applying online was compulsory to take benefit of these scholarship schemes, he added.

He said that merit-cum- means scholarship was being implemented for such students of Muslims, Sikhs, Christian and Buddhist minority communities whose family income was less than Rs. 2.50 lakhs annually and who had secured above 50 percent marks in the previous examination. He said that eligible students could submit their new applications online by 30th September, 2012 on the website www.momascholarship.gov.in. He said that those students who were already registered have to submit their renewed applications online by 31st December, 2012. Submission of one copy of the application in the institution was compulsory, he added.

The Spokesman said that under the post matric scholarship scheme, such students of Muslims, Sikhs, Christian and Buddhist minority communities were eligible whose family income was not above Rs. two lakhs annually and who have secured above 50 percent marks in the previous examinations. He said that eligible students could submit their new applications online by 15th August, 2012 on the website www.momascholarship.gov.in Submission of one copy of the application in the institution was compulsory, he added. He said that students of Government and Non- Government Senior Secondary Schools could submit their applications to the Principal by 15th July, 2012.

He said that College and University students have to register/apply online only to take benefit of the scheme.

Vineet Rai, a MBA student of Aryans, who got the job during campus placement at the package of Rs. 4.5 lakh in Mumbai, said that in today’s competitive world it is very difficult to get job immediately after the completion of study. But he did not find any difficulties because of strong placement cell at Aryans.

Sharing their personal experiences Abhishek and Roshan, who also got the job during the campus placement, said that ‘for a newly passed out student it is very difficult to give an interview in the company. But in during the campus interview which was held at Aryans it is altogether a different experience where we are more relaxed and in a better position to answer all the questions of the representatives from various MNCs, which really helped us to get the job.’

Dr. Kataria added that moving in the same direction around 150 companies have already visited Aryans Campus for different Placement Drives not only for Aryans Students but students from other colleges also and now in 2012. Aryans is planning to invite around 250 companies for various recruitment drives.

The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has taken the following decisions which have been implemented successfully in the Indian Institute of Technology – Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) 2012.

1. Female candidates were exempted from paying application fees.
2. The category-wise absolute cut-off marks in each subjects and aggregate for ranking the candidates were declared well in advance allowing them to maximize the aggregate marks, after ensuring the minimum marks in individual subjects.
3. Candidates were given carbonless copy paper based answer sheets (optical response sheets) as records of their performance.
4. Before announcement of the results, answer sheets were displayed in the web alongwith the correct answer choice(s) and machine-read responses (ORS), allowing the candidates the opportunity to submit revision request in case of any perceived error in the ORS.
5. Candidates who accept seats in the earlier rounds(s) are allowed to withdraw their acceptance before the final round of seat allocation.

The State Government would consider opening of a Government Degree College at Rewalsar to provide higher education facilities to local youth, especially girl students in the area. This was stated by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, while addressing a mammoth public meeting at Rewalsar in district Mandi today, after performing foundation stone laying ceremony of Sewerage Scheme Rewalsar, estimated to cost Rs. 8.80 crore which would benefit a population of over 15,000 in the area.

Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh was the first state in the country which had provided land and other facilities for setting up of ESI Medical College and Hospital at Ner Chowk by leasing required land at a token lease of Re. one to Government of India. He said that the college was got approved as a special case as the area did not fulfill the norms for setting up of ESI Medical College and Hospital. He said that specialised national level medical facilities and education would be available to the people. He said that similar was the case with the IIT at Kamand where every help was extended to set up the Institute.

Prof. Dhumal said that his Government took over in December, 2007 and first foundation stone laid by the Government was that of Rs. 100 crore Balh Valley Medium Irrigation Scheme. He said that the scheme was likely to be completed in a couple of months. He said that Rewalsar was the fifth town in the district which had been sanctioned sewerage scheme. He said that BJP Government believed in fulfilling promises made to the people. He said that work on all schemes where foundation stones had been laid were in progress and would be completed in a time bound manner. He said that Rs. 1.25 crore provision had already been made for starting the work on Rewalsar Sewerage Scheme.

Chief Minister said that BJP had wrested Congress strong holds even from the preceding Congress Chief Ministers who had represented Rohru, Renuka and Jubbal Kotkhai assembly segments during Congress regimes. He said that BJP had won the trust of the people of the State with hard work and fulfilling their aspirations. He said that it was BJP Government which had provided four CFL bulbs free of cost under Atal Bijli Bachat Yojna, subsidised essential commodities, subsidised domestic power and free Ambulance service under Atal Swasthya Seva. He said that hundred of crores of rupees were being spent every year on providing subsidy on all such schemes. He said that every section of the society had bee benefited with the ambitious schemes being implemented by the State Government. He said that Atal School Uniform Scheme had also been launched from Nahan on May 9 last under which every student in government schools from 1st to 10th class would be given free uniforms twice in a year. He said that Rs. 100 would also be given as stitching charges to every student. He said that basic necessities of ‘Roti, Kapada aur Makan’ had actually been implemented under different schemes envisioned during past four years.

Prof. Dhumal said that Rs. 23.5 crore had been distributed out of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to thousands of poor and needy people to help them recover from their serious ailments and had given new life to them He thanked people of Himachal Pradesh and others who had contributed generously towards the Fund. He said that there was no better service towards suffering humanity than helping them in distress.

Chief Minister was accorded a rousing reception by local people in large numbers on his arrival at Rewalsar where Buddhist Monks also joined the local people. He also listened to public grievances after the public meeting and passed necessary directions to concerned authorities to redress people’s grievances on priority.

Shri Mahender Singh Thakur, Transport and Urban Development Minister, said that Rs. 40 crore Una-Jahu-Bhambla-Kalkhar road was under improvement besides Rs. 107 crore road project for the area. He said that setting up of IIT and ESI Medical College and Hospital were landmarks in the development history of the district. He said that proposal to generate power downstream Beas river by constructing power projects was a laudable and far sighted decision. He said that uniform development was the policy of BJP Government by rising above all considerations. He supported the demand of opening government degree college at Rewalsar, raised by Shri Mohan Joshi.

Shri Prakash Chaudhary, local MLA, also welcomed the Chief Minister to his home segment and thanked him for his liberal attitude towards development needs of Balh segment residents. He thanked CM for providing funds for completion of Balh Valley Medium Irrigation Scheme and laying foundation of sewerage scheme at Rewalsar.

Shri Mohan Joshi, Chairman, MILKFED, welcomed the Chief Minister on his one day visit to district Mandi and thanked him for laying foundation stone of sewerage scheme for the holy town and visiting devotees. He thanked Chief Minister for sanctioning three senior secondary schools in the segment. He also thanked him for enhancing procurement price of milk by Rs. 18 during past four years and funds provided to pay for the milk procured from dairy farmers. He said that milk powder plant was being set up at Datt Nagar near Rampur and cattle feed plant at Jahu, which were nearing completion.

                  The number of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved business schools functioning till 2011-12 in the country are 3644 in Master of Business Administration (MBA) and 308 in Post Graduate Diploma Management (PGDM).

          As per the mandate given to AICTE in the AICTE Act, 1987, norms and standards are framed by the Council to regulate the technical institutions, including management institutions in the country for maintaining quality in these institutions.  The approvals for establishing new institutions etc. are granted on the basis of prescribed norms for infrastructure facilities and faculty etc.  These norms and standards are uniformly applicable to all the colleges, irrespective of their location.

The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Mr. Shivraj V. Patil while speaking on the occasion of Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana held at PGI, today said that the Bar Councils have many duties to perform, to strengthen the system used to impart legal education, to maintain the true nature of the legal profession and its dignity, to help in presenting the fact, and in interpreting the laws in courts, in a correct manner, to help the seekers of justice, by giving them legal aid. He said that these duties are not easily performed, and require vision, erudition, determination and perseverance which the members of the bar and bar council of this  area, would acquire and use, in a most laudable and expected manner.

Mr. Patil said that we are talking about legal education for Hon’ble Judges and lawyers only. He said the need of the hour was to educate the general public regarding the laws and rights made for them. He said we have the worksmen compensation act and many people do not know that there is a law and rights are given to people. Due to this they aree unabe to get benefit of compensation at the time of need. He said we can educate general public regarding laws and rights through electronic and print media.

Mr. Patil said that the democracy is a system which depends on the people’s majority views, on the concept of rule of law, and justice, political, economic, social and cultural, on what the law makers and interpreters, and dispensers of justice do. Without justice, equality, rule of law, democracy cannot sustain itself. Looked from this angle, the importance of lawyers, bar councils and judiciary can be fathomed.

The Governor said that the Bar of the lawyers of Punjab and Haryana and this area has contributed many legal gems of purest ray serene who have adorned many positions in the highest judiciary of the country and in forums where laws are made and in many other areas in an exceptional manner, and have proved themselves most erudite,
visionary, just, capable and efficient.

मुख्यमंत्री श्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने कहा है कि शिक्षा में सरकार के साथ- साथ समाज का भी योगदान जरूरी है। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रदेश में शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में समाज की भागीदारी बढ़ाने के लिये निजी विश्व विद्यालयों को खोलने की अनुमति दी गई है। इससे उच्च शिक्षा को लोक व्यापी बनाया जा सकेगा। श्री चौहान आज गुना जिले के राघौगढ़ में जे पी इंजीनियरिंग एवं टेक्नालॉजी विश्व विद्यालय के प्रथम दीक्षांत समारोह को संबोधित कर रहे थे।

इस मौके पर सामान्य प्रशासन राज्य मंत्री श्री के. एल. अग्रवाल मौजूद थे। राज्यपाल श्री रामनरेश यादव के संदेश का प्रोफेसर एन .जे. राव ने वाचन किया।

मुख्यमंत्री श्री चौहान ने छात्र-छात्राओं का आव्हान किया कि वे अपनी संस्कृति, सभ्यता एवं संस्कारों के साथ-साथ जीवन-मूल्यों को भी कभी न भूलें। देश के छात्र -छात्राओं ने सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी एवं चिकित्सा के क्षेत्र में अमेरिका सहित अन्य देशों में नये कीर्तिमान स्थापित किये हैं। वे पूरी लगन, मेहनत एवं निष्ठा के साथ परिवार समाज एवं देश के निर्माण में अपना पूर्ण योगदान दें। उन्होंने कहा कि दुनिया में कोई भी कार्य असंभव नहीं है, जरूरत दृढ़-इच्छा शक्ति और मेहनत की होती है।

श्री चौहान ने आगे कहा कि प्रदेश में कौशल उन्नयन को बढ़ावा देने के लिये राज्य सरकार तेजी के साथ कार्य कर रही है। विकास खण्ड स्तर पर कौशल उन्नयन विकास केन्द्रों के माध्यम से स्थानीय नवयुवकों के कौशल को निखारा जा रहा है। मुख्यमंत्री ने शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में श्री जे.पी. गौर के योगदान की सराहना की।

पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री श्री दिग्विजयसिंह ने कहा कि आज देश में विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में अनुसंधान की आवश्यकता है। यह संस्थान अनुसंधान के क्षेत्र में अच्छा संस्थान बनकर अपना नाम रोशन करे। उन्होंने संस्था के संस्थापक श्री गौर के व्यक्तित्व की सराहना की। श्री सिंह ने संस्था के संचालकों से प्रबंधन एवं विधि की कक्षाओं को शुरू करने का भी अनुरोध किया।

Key Findings:

• The total size of the direct selling industry in India at Rs 52.3 billion for 2010-11
• Overall direct selling industry grew by 27% in 2010-11 as compared to 17% in 2009-10
• Northern region in average turnover moved from 12% in 2009-10 to 15% in 2010-11
• On the contrary, average sales turnover of Southern region has reduced from 48% in 2009-10 to 44% in 2010-11
• Total distributor base reported 24% growth, IDSA member companies generating a growth of 25% and non-member companies generating a growth of 22% employment
• Wellness has emerged as a leading product category contributing to the highest share of sales (40%) followed by cosmetics and personal care products (32%)
• The growth in tax collection from the direct selling firms has jumped to 58% in 2010-11 from 11% 2009-10 and 18% in 2008-09
• Around 65% products are sourced through contract manufacturers which are SMEs; contributing largely to the growth of Indian SME sector
• The regulatory framework is overlapped by rules and regulations at district level, state level and central level; govt. should provide incentives to the industry in terms of lowering costs of doing business
• A 20% YOY growth rate is expected for the overall industry in the next four years

Addressing the press, Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) in association with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, released Annual Survey 2010-11 on the Indian direct selling industry today in New Delhi.

The survey was unveiled by Shri. Manoj Parida, Joint Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India,  Mr. S. Subramanian, Chairman &  Ms. Chavi Hemanth, Secretary General, IDSA  and  Ms. Susmita Shekhar, Secretary General and  Mr. SP Sharma, Chief Analyst, PHD Chamber.

The survey indicates that the industry has displayed a robust 27% growth at INR 52.3 billion in 2010-11 turn over.  The robust growth in the segment has been contributed by 28% growth in organised and 17% growth in the unorganized segments of the industry during 2010-11. The industry grew at 24% during 2009-10, 17% during 2008-09, 13% during 2007-08 and 9% during 2006-07.

Dr. S P Sharma, Chief Economist, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, “The Indian direct selling industry has scaled remarkable growth over the years and has been expanding its horizons in India as a rapidly emerging alternate distribution channel”.  The annual survey reveals that the concentration of sales of direct selling industry in the Southern region has now started diversifying to the other regions of the country.

Mr S Subramanian, Chairman, IDSA informed that the industry is estimated to double by 2014-15 reaching upto INR 108.4 billion from the current level of INR 52.3 billion in 2010-11.  The industry is slated to grow at an average of more than 20% in the next four years”.

Mr S Subramanian further informed, “Direct selling companies have been active in contributing to the social and economic development of the country, with over Rs.6.5 billion paid as taxes to the Government exchequer by IDSA member companies alone”.

The survey findings states that the products sold through this segment are appealing to consumers for its high quality standards.  Direct selling sector helps cater to consumers who would want to have products of their choice delivered at convenient locations other than at usual retail stores.

Mr S Subramanian expressed that “As the direct selling industry offers alternate employment opportunities, it has contributed significantly in employment generation for the country over the years. This year (during 2010-11) the total distributor base of the Indian direct selling industry stands at around 4 million marking a growth of around 24% over previous year. Out of this 3.2 million distributors have been employed by member companies generating a growth of 25% and 0.8 million distributors have been employed by the non-member companies generating a growth of 22% employment”.

Chavi Hemanth, Secretary General, IDSA stated “IDSA collaborated with PHD Chamber in furthering an on-going process of monitoring the direct selling sector in India.  The report assesses the current state of the direct selling industry in India across several key parameters encompassing revenues, sales force employed, product category coverage, distribution reach and most importantly the contribution of this industry to the government exchequer. The Report has also addresses the challenges faced by this sector and the overall future outlook.”

She also stated that out of the wide variety of product sold through the organised direct selling industry, products related to wellness contributed to the highest share of sales (40%) while cosmetics and personal care products (32%) were also very high in demand.

Further she mentioned that on an average, the direct selling firms earned profits of around 21% during the last three years. As per the survey, the main drivers of growth in this sector are high quality standards of products, reliability/durability, promotional schemes and good demonstrations and trainings.

Ms Chavi Hemanth expressed that the industry is exploring new opportunities using the social media tools to reach out to large consumer base. “Though the industry is two decades old but with focussed efforts  and strategise of our member companies over last five years, direct selling has emerged as a medium for the sale and marketing of product and services across a range of consumer needs, with the associated industry encompassing a size of Rs 53.2 billion for 2010-11”.

Mr S Subramanian said“The Indian direct selling industry has contributed largely to the growth of Indian SME sector by way of outsourcing their manufacturing process to these enterprises in order to produce the products domestically.  The companies own manufacturing facilities produce only 30-35% of the total produce, the remaining is majorly sourced through contract manufacturers which are SMEs”.

The forum was concluded by Mr Amarnath Sengupta, Vice Chairman, IDSA.  He conveyed his gratitude to Joint Secretary, Shri Manoj Parida, Media, PHD Chamber and IDSA Secretariat and said that he looks forward to the support of Govt. & Media to overcome the challenges faced by the sector.

This time Chandigarh was not in the list of off line centers of AIEEE exam .So students had to move to other states to appear in this exam.

On the other hand,Around 40,000 students from Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana & Himachal Pradesh appeared in 11th all India engineering entrance exam (AIEEE) 2012 offline paper, today. There were around 60 centers in Bathinda, Shimla, Hamirpur, Hissar & krurkshetra region. The online version of the exam shall be conducted between May 7 and 26, 2012 in 22 cities all over India.

Commenting on AIEEE,Dr.Sangeeta Khanna,Head Chemistry Coaching Circle said that this year CBSE Introduce Assertion Reasoning questions in AIEEE pattern.

Commenting on AIEEE,Dr.P.B Mahapatra, Director Aryans College of Engineering (ACE) said that overall the exam was easy compartively last year , However the Physics part was little tough only for AIEEE Aspirants .

It is to be mentioned that All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) is an all-India common entrance examination conducted by CBSE, for admission to Engineering and Architecture/Planning programmes at the undergraduate level. National Institutes of Technology (NIT), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM), Deemed Universities, Central Government Funded Institutions and other State Institutes are participating in AIEEE.The result of the test will be declared on or before 15TH June.
