समाजशास्त्र में पोस्ट ग्रेजुऐट पीयूष चक्रवर्ती की बतौर निर्देशक पहली फ़िल्म है ”आज भी”. लेकिन उन्होंने थियेटर में बहुत काम किया है, उन्होंने नाटकों को लिखा है उनमें अभिनय भी किया है व साथ में उन्हें निर्देशित भी किया है. इसके अलावा उन्होंने ७० से भी अधिक वृत्तचित्र और लघु फिल्मों को निर्देशित किया है. शो मैन के नाम से पहचाने जाने वाले स्व राज कपूर व स्व ऋषिकेश मुखर्जी से प्रेरणा लेने वाले पीयूष ने अपनी फ़िल्म ”आज भी” में महिलाओं पर होने वाले अत्याचारों के बारे में दिखाया है. अपनी इस फ़िल्म के बारे मे उन्होंने बताया कि, ‘मेरी यह फ़िल्म पूरी तरह से कमर्शियल फ़िल्म है लेकिन साथ में कहीं न कहीं यह फ़िल्म जिन्दगी की सच्चाई को दिखाती है और यही मेरी फ़िल्म की यू एस पी है.”

पीयूष की यह फ़िल्म ”आज ” पहली जरुर है लेकिन जिस तरह उन्होंने नये व पुराने कलाकारों को लेकर अपनी फ़िल्म बनाई है वो काबिले तारीफ़ है.

उनसे पूछने कि, उन्होंने फ़िल्म का नाम ”आज भी” ही क्यों रखा ? उन्होंने कहा कि, ”मेरी फ़िल्म की कहानी में वो सब है जो की आज हमारे समाज में हो रहा है किस तरह महिलाओं पर ”आज भी” अत्याचार हो रहे हैं, इसके अलावा ”आज भी” शब्द का  हमारे दैनिक जीवन में बहुत ही मायने रखता है.”

आई एम कलाम देख चुके फिल्म फेडरेशन के कुछ सदस्यों के अनुसार, अपनी गुणवत्ता और विश्व सिनेमा के कुछ मानकों पर खरा होने में सक्षम होने के कारण यह फिल्म ऑस्कर में भारत की एंट्री के लिए सबसे मज़बूत दावेदारों में पहले ही बेशुमार  हो गई है।

आई एम कलाम फिल्म की समीक्षा बेहद सकारात्मक और उत्साहवर्धक रही है। यह इस साल की अभी तक की सबसे बेहतरीन समीक्षित फिल्म है। समीक्षक इस बात पर एकमत हैं कि “आई एम कलाम सिनेमाई कला के दृिश्टकोण से एक बेहतरीन फिल्म है जो लोगों तक अपने सामाजिक संदेश पहुंचाने और हमारे समाज में रोल मॉडल के महत्व के पुनर्मूल्यांकन की जरूरत को जोरदार तरीके से उठाने में सफल रही है। यह एक बेहद मनोरंजन फिल्म होने के अलावा आशावादिता को भी प्रतिबिंबित करती है। आई एम कलाम बच्चों की अन्य फिल्मों की तुलना में अधिक सजीव और बेहतर है। यह फिल्म वास्तव में बच्चों के लिए एक तरह से संपूर्ण फिल्म है जिसकी अपील युवाओं में समान रूप से है।´´

बॉलीवुड में फिल्म के व्यापार से जुड़े लोग भी यह कहते थकते नहीं कि जिस फिल्म की शुरुआत  पहले दिन औसत कलेक्शन के साथ हुई थी, वह अपनी विशयवस्तु और सकारात्मक संदेश के कारण सप्ताहांत में बड़ी संख्या में दशzकों को आकिशzत करने में सफल रही। यहां तक कि कुछ मल्टीप्लेक्स में हाउसफुल भी देखा गया। आई एम कलाम ने पहले ही अपनी लागत वसूल ली है और बॉक्स ऑफिस पर यह ठीक ठाक हिट फिल्मों में ‘ाुमार होने की राह पर अग्रसर है। आई एम कलाम मुनाफा कमाने के मामले में चलो मुसड्डी ऑफिस ऑफिस से बेहतर प्रदशzन कर रही है, जबकि फिल्म का निर्माण कम बजट में हुआ और देशभर में इसे सिर्फ 125 स्क्रीनों पर ही रिलीज किया गया। फिर भी यह समीक्षा के मामले में पिछले सप्ताह रिलीज होने वाली फिल्मों में सबसे आगे रही। कमाई के मामले में यह फिल्म भविश्य में भी बेहद अहम साबित होगी।

फिल्म की सफलता यह साबित करती है कि अच्छे कंटेंट वाली छोटी फिल्में भी काफी लोकप्रिय हो सकती हैं और स्माइल फाउंडेशन ने बॉलीवुड को यह दिखा दिया है कि बड़े कलाकारों के बगैर और कम प्रचार के बावजूद एक छोटी फिल्म किस तरह से सफल हो सकती है।

जैसा कि आई एम कलाम की लोकप्रियता से जाहिर होता है कि एक बच्चे के रूप में आप अपने सपनों को हासिल करने में कभी भी असफल नहीं होते, फिर अभी इसे क्यों बदला जाएर्षोर्षो स्माइल फाउंडेशन की नीला माधब पांडा द्वारा निर्देशित आई एम कलाम जिसकी समीक्षकों ने काफी तारीफ की है और जो स्वस्थ मनोरंजन करने वाली पुरस्कृत फिल्म साबित हुई है, आखिरकार स्वतंत्र सिनेमा की जीत साबित हो रही है।

इस सप्ताह यूटीवी बिंदास सुपरस्टड में स्टड्स के लिए स्पद्धाz कठिन होती जा रही है तथा उन्हें कुछ नुस्खों को बताने के लिए अिश्मत ने एक ऐसे व्यक्ति को निमंत्रित किया है जो इसका विशेषज्ञ है तथा महिलाओं को आकर्षित करने तथा उनके दिलों को चुराने की कला में माहिर है – और वह कोई और नहीं बल्कि इमरान हाशमी है। इमरान अपने अच्छे मित्र उर्फ सुपरस्टड अश्मित पटेल से मिलने स्टड फार्म आए। वह अिश्मत के पास आ कर काफी प्रसन्न व उत्साहित दिखे तथा उन्हें देख कर अश्मित पटेल उत्साह से उनकी तरफ कूद पड़े। एक दूसरे की पीठ ठोकने – हेलो व हाय के तुरंत बाद अिश्मत ने इमरान को भावी सुपरस्ट्ड के प्रसिधीयों से मिलवाया, जो कि उन्ही के समान हाशमी से मिलने के लिए उत्साहित थे। हाशमी का प्रतिभागियों से परिचय कराया जाना अपने आप में काफी नायाब रहा क्योंकि अिश्मत ने `इमरान को ओरिजनल स्टड´ के रुप में पेश किया। लड़कों ने वास्तव में उन्हें काफी गंभीरता से लिया और निश्चित रुप से उनके द्वारा दिए जाने वाले टिप्स को स्वीकार किया। जब इमरान से पूछा गया कि वे लड़को को दिए जाने वाले इस अवसर के विषय में क्या कहेंगेर्षोर्षोर्षोर्षो इस प्रश्न का उत्तर देते हुए इमरान ने कहा कि, “इस शो की परिकल्पना बेहद नवीन है तथा भारत में पहली बार ऐसा शो प्रदर्शित किया जा रहा है। मै समझता हूं कि प्रतिभागियों को सीखना चाहिए तथा चीजो का सही तरीके से पालन करना चाहिए ताकि वे आगे बढ़ सके तथा और अधिक लोगों को प्रेरित कर सकें।

Based on the famous coffee table book ‘Har Ghar Kuchh Kehta Hai’, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister would inaugurate Shimla Heritage Museum on 6th August, 2011 at U.S. Club, Shimla. The purpose of establishment of the heritage museum is to increase the stay of tourists visiting Shimla and acquaint them with the popular & prevalent history & heritage of Shimla town, said Dr. Arun Kumar Sharma, Director, Tourism & Civil Aviation here today.

He further said that the department has started Shimla City Tour in association with Tourism Industry Stakeholders Welfare Society, Shimla and the museum would be the base for heritage walk in the city also. In future the heritage tour would be started from US Club. In the museum one can take the glimpse of Town Hall, Viceregal Lodge, Post Office, Gaiety Theatre, Vidhan Sabha, Barnes Court, Rippon Hospital, Combermere Bridge, Gorton Castle etc., he added.

Built in 1860 from stone and timber, the Town Hall represents typical European architecture, housed the Municipal Corporation offices. Being a best example of Imperial City planning, the sober yet architecturally magnificent, Town Hall was built on a commanding ridge at the confluence of the grounds of the ridge and the Mall.

The building of the General Post Office, Shimla, the oldest post office of Northern India was constructed in 1882 and earlier known as the Conny Cottage. Mr. F. Dalton Is supposed to be its first Post Master and Mr. L.G. Pigott was the last English Post Master till December, 1946 and Mr. A.K. Hazari was the first Post master of Indian Origin in 1947. Before the establishment of rail or road links with Shimla, mail was sent through a special “dak gari” from Ambala to Kalka. It was further transported by postal employees using horses, ponies and even elephants.

Gaiety Theatre : Built in 1887, this five storey building which was amongst the tallest buildings of its times was inaugurated in 1888 and served as a major place of entertainment for the Anglo-Indian society as it housed a stage for Shimla Amateur Dramatic Club. Built in stone, with artistically shaped windows, doors, lintels and openings, it also possessed boxes, galleries, beautiful paintings and sculptures. It was one of its kind in Asia during that period.

Viceregal Lodge: Constructed during the Viceroyalty of Lord Dufferin during 1884-1888 by architect Henry Irwin, this building with Neo-Gothic architecture was the first building to have electric lighting in Shimla. This building, spread over 123 acres has been a witness to several historic moments. It was the venue of Shimla Conference in 1945 and it was here that the decision of partition of India was taken in 1947. After Independence in 1947, the building became the property of the President of India and was renamed Rashtrapati Niwas. Now it houses the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies.

The Combermere Bridge across a chasm and the water tank on the hill above were built at the behest of Lord Combermere, the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1828. This tank located at the site of the present day Indira Gandhi Sports Complex was the primary source of water before piped water was introduced to the city.

The Minister for Culture and Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja has said that there are only two centrally protected monuments viz. Golconda Fort and Charminar located in Hyderabad.

She said, as per the preliminary map supplied by Larsen & Toubro Limited, Golconda Fort is shown far from Hyderabad Metro Rail Line Project. The exact distance of Rail line from Charminar, is not clear. Further, whether this project is to be constructed underground or overground is not yet finalized. Under the situation, it is not possible to comment on the impact of metro line on monument i.e. Charminar.

A delegation from the Ministry of Information & Culture, Government of Afghanistan, called on Secretary (I&B), Shri Raghu Menon here today. Headed by Dr. Mobarez Rasheidi, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Information & Culture, the delegation’s visit comes in the backdrop of the “Memorandum of Understanding on Information and Broadcasting sectors” signed between the two countries in May this year.

During the discussions, Secretary (I&B), Shri Raghu Menon, assured all possible help from the Ministry to the Government of Afghanistan in areas of capacity development, technical expertise in running infrastructural projects in the broadcasting sector and training for journalists at IIMC.

On the issue of providing technical expertise in the broadcasting and information sectors, Shri Menon stated that the Ministry could provide technical expertise by sending professionals to Afghanistan to draw policy initiatives in critical areas. During the discussions, a detailed overview of the policy initiatives undertaken by this Ministry was also put before the visiting delegation.

Dr. Mobarez Rashedi, in his remarks, gave a detailed account of the initiatives of the Government of India which benefited Afghanistan in the recent past. He specifically mentioned the State of Art studio for Radio and Broadcast facilities which had been set up by the Government of India at Jalalabad. He appreciated the help provided by the Government of India in facilitating the up-linking and down-linking facilities via INSAT 3-A to radio and TV national broadcasters in Afghanistan.

During the discussions, the Afghanistan delegation also apprised Secretary (I&B) regarding the work-plan that was under consideration for taking forward the broad agreement reached with the Government of India in May this year.

The Deputy Minister also visited Press Information Bureau (PIB) and met the Principal Director General (M&C) Smt Neelam Kapur. The experiences regarding information dissemination and publicity was discussed at length during the meeting. PIB promised to offer all the necessary assistance for providing training to the Afghan Government Information Department Officials.

The Deputy Minister was accompanied by Dr Zareen Anzoor, DG, Radio TV, Afghanistan, Dr Nejeebullah Bayan, Head of Internal News, Bakhtar News Agency, Government of Afghanistan and other senior officials.

The MoU signed between the two countries in May covers a wide range of issues. Prominent being policy and strategy development, project management, financial management and procurement processes. The focus of the MoU is on capacity development covering critical areas which are as follows:

• Development of media policies and strategies.

• Development of independent and free press in Afghanistan.

• Identification of areas of reforms and restructuring in the field of press and media and implementation thereof.

• Development and standardization of media related programmes, graphic designing, production of documentaries and films and other related areas.

• Production and broadcasting activities of Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) including content management.

• Marketing of TV and Radio programmes for revenue generation.

A range of activities have been conducted by the Ministry in Afghanistan. These include: training by Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) to various Afghan Journalists. Annually IIMC is training several Afghan journalists sent by the Indian Embassy Kabul. India in the recent past has helped build the full fledged Radio And Television Afghanistan (RTA) Stations at Jalalabad Afghanistan. As part of the capacity building technical process, India is also providing satellite uplinking facilities for the state owned television RTA. BECIL representatives in Afghanistan have earlier helped on various projects to RTA. A process has also been initiated to facilitate the flow of films from India into Afghanistan.

उप राष्‍ट्रपति श्री हामिद अमसारी ने गुरुवार को एक समारोह में प्रोफेसर हकीम सैयद जिल्‍लुर्रहमान लिखित पुस्‍तक रास मसूद का विमोचन किया। इस अवसर पर लेखक को ऐसी बहुमूल्‍य पुस्‍तक लिखने के लिए बधाई देते हुए श्री अंसारी ने कहा कि इस पुस्‍तक में सर रास मसूद के जीवन अत्‍यंत के रोचक पहलू पेश किए गए है। सर रास मसूद एक सच्‍चे शिक्षाविद् थे। उन्‍होंने अलीगढ़ मुस्‍लिम विश्‍वविद्यालय को बेहतरीन तरीके से अपनी सेवाएं प्रदान की। वो हमेशा श्रेष्ठता में विश्‍वास रखते थे।

उल्‍लेखनीय है कि यह पुस्‍तक 20वीं शताब्दी के पहले 50 वर्षों के दौरान के एक विशिष्‍ट शिक्षाविद् होने के साथ-साथ अलीगढ़ मुस्‍लिम विश्‍वविद्यालय के संस्‍थापक स्‍वर्गीय सर सैयद अहमद खां के पोते भी थे। वे उस्‍मानिया विश्‍वविद्यालय, हैदराबाद के संस्‍थापकों में से थे। सर रास मसूद ने 1929 से 1934 तक अलीगढ़ मुस्‍लिम विश्‍वविद्यालय के कुलपति पद की जिम्‍मेदारी संभाली थी। वो 12 वर्षों तक आजुमन तरक्‍की-ए-उर्दू (हिन्‍द) के आध्‍यक्ष भी रहे। उन्‍होंने अनेकों पुस्‍तकें लिखी थीं।

In order to optimally utilize available slots on DD Direct Plus platform and maximize its revenue, Prasar Bharti today conducted an e-auction for the available slots on its DTH platform. The purpose of the e-auction was to select the channels on DD Direct Plus Platform in a transparent and objective manner. Conducted through e-tender process, the entire mechanism was facilitated by M/s NCDEX SPOT Mumbai, the agency selected for conducting the proceedings.

Prior to conducting the e-auction mechanism, Doordarshan undertook a detailed exercise to fine tune the mechanism to suit the professional requirements. It issued letters to all the channels who had applied to be placed on DD Direct Plus DTH platform and all those existing channels on DD Direct Plus platform that were completing their Annual Agreements upto 30th June 2011, inviting them to participate in the auction process by submitting a Bank Guarantee of Rs.1.5 crore within 15 days of the issuance of the letter. Open public Notices were issued in leading National News Paper on an all India level. Thirty seven channels applied with a Bank Guarantee of Rs 1.5 Crore and necessary Downlinking/Uplinking permissions from Ministry of I & B . Out of the 37 channels, 32 participated in the final e-auction process.

As part of the orientation, the channels were given thorough training and also participated in a series of mock auctions to give them complete familiarity with the process. Each service provider was issued individual IDs and passwords to all the channels to enable them to log onto the defined website to participate in the closed e-auction process using their unique Digital Signatures. Through the auction, 21 successful bids have been received ranging from Rs 2.17 crore to Rs 2.25 crore. All 21 vacant slots on DD’s DTH platform have been auctioned through this transparent e-auction process.

The bidding details that have been received from different channels as per the price bands are as follows:

• Rs. 2.25 cr- Sadhana News (Uttarakhand/Himachal), Aastha Bhajan, B4U Movies, Sanskar.

• Rs. 2.22 cr- RK News (Sadhana), Sahara Samay.

• Rs. 2.21 cr-Enter 10 music, TV 24, Day& Night News.

• Rs.2.20 cr- B4U Music, Time TV, Divya, Katiani.

• Rs. 2.19 cr-Sahara Aalmi (Urdu), Sahara Firangi.

• Rs. 2.18 cr-Zee Salaam, Zee Smile, Etc music, 9X, Zee Jagran.

• Rs. 2.17cr-Enter 10 Movies.

As per the computation by Prasar Bharti under the given e-auction process, it is expected that revenue earned from today’s auction will be more than Rs.46 crores. It may be mentioned, that prior to this e-auction process, Doordarshan was earning Rs.16.8 crores @ Rs.80 lakhs per channel.

The e-auction process initiated today was approved in the 103rd meeting of the Prasar Bharati Board held recently. As on date, there are 59 channels on DD Direct Plus bouquet, of which 19 are Doordarshan channels (including Lok Sabha).

The first day of Festival of Performing Arts, featuring recipients of the SangeetNatakAcademi Awards 2010, being held between 23-31 July in the premises of Sangeet Natak Academi(SNA) here, witnessed two captivating performances from two notedl artistes – Pt. Yashpal and Mr. Nityanand Haldipur.

Highly acknowledged Hindustani classical vocalist -Pt. Yashpal’senchanting recital left the rasicasmoved, yet spell bound. Mr. JayantKastuar, Secretary, SNA, said, “It was a rare performance of a senior and reputed artist Pt. Yashpaul to regaled the rasicas with his choicest composition.”

PtYashpalwas born in Western Punjab in 1937. He is also an excellent composer who has composed rare ragas under the name ‘SagunPiya’. A top-ranking artist of AIR and Doordarshan, he is recipient of SangeetShiromani award in 2004 and Punjab SangeetNatakAcademi award in 2008.

The second performance wasgiven byNityanandHaldipur, a well-known flute artist. Mr. Haldipur has received SangeetNatakAcademi Award (Puruskar) for Hindustani Instrumental Music.Quipped JayantKastuar, Secretary, SNA, “Haldipurji has hallmark of his venerable Guru Smt. Annapurna Devi, the daughter of the legendary master UstadAllauddin Khan.”

Mr. Haldipur, born in 1948 in Bombay, received training from Smt. Annupurna Devi, the eminent musician of the MaiharGharana. He is famous for his contemplative alap in the manner of Dhrupad and his distinctly formatted jodand jhala. Like Mr. Yashpaul, he too is a top-ranking artist of AIR and Doordarshan. He has presented recitals in a number of major festivals both in India and abroad.

Earlier, in the morning, Mrs. ShantaSarabjeet Singh, Vice-President and Mr. JayantKastuar, Secretary of SangeetNatakAcademi handed-over Tamrapatra, Angvastram and purse money of Rs. 3 Lakh to Rahim FahimuddinDagarat Fortis Hospital, VasantKunj. Mr. Dagar, a renowned Dhrupad musician, is one of the four recipients of Academy Fellowships(AkademiRatnaSadasyata) this year and could not attend the award ceremony yesterday due to his ill health. 

Starting from today, the festival will showcase 26 performances by exceptional artists till 31^st July. All the artists are recipients of SangeetNakakAcademi Fellowships and awards for this year. The fellowships and awards were conferred yesterday by the Vice-President of India.

The Akademi Fellowship (AkademiRatnaSadasyata) and Akademi Award (AkademiPuraskar) are the most coveted national honours conferred on performing artists, gurus and scholars of the performing arts. These honours are decided by the Akademi’s General Council, the apex body consisting of eminent artists, scholars and nominees of the Government of India and of different States and Union Territories of the country. 

SangeetNatakAkademi, established by the Government of India on 31 May 1952, is the National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama. It was created as the apex body in the country for the task of preservation and promotion of the performing art traditions of India. One of the important activities of the Akademi has been to give recognition and honours to artists in order to set standards in the performing arts, and to restore art and the artists to their rightful place in independent India.

The Honourable Vice-President of India, SHRI M. HAMID ANSARI, will confer the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Akademi Awards for 2010 at a special ceremony on 22 July 2011 at 1800 hours at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi. This year, four eminent personalities will be conferred the Akademi’s Fellowships, while thirty-six artists and two scholars will receive the Akademi Awards for 2010. Kumari Selja, Honourable Minister of Culture, will also grace the Award ceremony.

The highest honour of Akademi Fellowship (Akademi Ratna Sadasyata) will be conferred on eminent vocalist Girija Devi, renowned dance guru Nataraja Ramakrishna, Dhrupad maestro Rahim Fahimuddin Dagar, and Mridangam vidwan T. K. Murthy.  They will receive purse money of Rupees three lakh, besides an angavastram and a tamrapatra. The Fellowship of the Akademi is a rare honour, which is bestowed on a very limited number of artists and scholars at a given time.

The eminent representatives of music, dance and theatre to be honoured with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 2010 will receive purse money of Rupees one lakh, an angavastram and tamrapatra.

In the field of music, nine artists, namely Chhanu Lal Mishra and Yashpaul for Hindustani Vocal Music, Budhaditya Mukherjee (Sitar) and Nityanand Haldipur (Flute) for Hindustani Instrumental Music, Suguna Purushothaman and Mysore Nagamani Srinath for Carnatic Vocal music, Nagai R Muralidharan (Violin) and Srimushnam V. Rajarao (Mridangam) for Carnatic Instrumental Music, and M. V. Simhachala Sastry (Harikatha) for Other Major Traditions of Music will receive the Award.

In the field of dance, nine practitioners, namely, Malabika Mitra (Kathak), Kalamandalam Kombil Gopala Vasudevan Nair (Kathakali), Phanjoubam Iboton Singh (Manipuri), Rathna Kumar (Kuchipudi), Aruna Mohanty (Odissi), Manik Borbayan (Sattriya), Uttara Asha Coorlawala (Creative & Experimental), Kalamandalam Raman Chakyar (Other Major Traditions of Dance & Dance Theatre – Kutiyattam), and S Rajeswari (Music for Dance – Bharatanatyam) will receive the Award.

In the field of theatre also, eight persons will be honoured. They include playwrights D Vizai Bhaskar (Telugu) and Atamjit Singh (Punjabi), directors Veenapani Chawla and Urmil Kumar Thapaliyal, and actors Dilip Phabhavalkar, Banwari Taneja, Maya Krishna Rao and Swatilekha Sengupta.

For their contribution to Other Traditional/Folk/ Tribal Music/ Dance/ Theatre forms, Harbhajan Singh Namdhari (Gurbani Kirtan of Punjab), Nazeer Ahmad Khan Warsi & Naseer Ahmad Khan Warsi (joint awards in Qawwali), Dwijen Mukherjee (Rabindrasangeet, West Bengal), T. Somasundaram (Folk Dance of Tamil Nadu), Krishna Kumari (Bakha folk music of Jammu and Kashmir),   Chandatai Jagdish Tiwadi (Bharud folk theatre of Maharashtra), K. Chinna Anjanamma (Tolu Bommalata – Shadow Puppetry of Andhra Pradesh), K. V. Ramakrishnan and K. C. Ramakrishnan (joint award for Pava Kathakali – Glove Puppetry of Kerala) will receive the Akademi Award.

Ashok D. Ranade will be honoured with the Award for his scholarship in music and Jaidev Taneja for his overall contribution to theatre.

The Akademi Fellowship (Akademi Ratna Sadasyata) and Akademi Award (Akademi Puraskar) are the most coveted national honours conferred on performing artists, gurus and scholars of the performing arts. These honours are decided by the Akademi’s General Council, the apex body consisting of eminent artists, scholars and nominees of the Government of India and of different States and Union Territories of the country.

Sangeet Natak Akademi, established by the Government of India on 31 May 1952, is the National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama. It was created as the apex body in the country for the task of preservation and promotion of the performing art traditions of India. One of the important activities of the Akademi has been to give recognition and honours to artists in order to set standards in the performing arts, and to restore art and the artists to their rightful place in independent India.

मुख्यमंत्री श्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने कहा है कि पारम्परिक कलाओं के संरक्षण और जीविका उपार्जन के नये साधनों के विकास के लिये उन्हें व्यावसायिक कौशल उन्नयन के कार्यक्रमों में शामिल करने संबंधी प्रस्ताव बनाया जाये। मुख्यमंत्री श्री चौहान आज विधानसभा में डिंडोरी जिले के ग्राम पाटनगढ़ के कलाकारों की कलाकृतियों की प्रदर्शनी का अवलोकन कर रहे थे। उन्होंने कलाकारों से उनकी कला-कृतियों की जानकारी भी ली।

मुख्यमंत्री श्री चौहान ने कहा कि कला जन्मजात संस्कार होती है। ग्रामीण परिवेश के कलाकारों के इन चित्रों के रंग संयोजन, कल्पनाशीलता और कलात्मकता को देखने से स्पष्ट होता है कि कला औपचारिक शिक्षा की मोहताज नहीं होती।

मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि गोंड चित्र कला के प्रसिद्ध कलाकार जनगढ़ सिंह श्याम की कला पंरपरा के अनुयायियों के चित्रों के संबंध में अधिक से अधिक लोगों को जानकारी दी जाना चाहिये। उन्होंने कहा कि कलाकृतियाँ कलाकारों की अच्छी आय का साधन बने। इसी मंशा से विधानसभा में प्रदर्शनी का आयोजन किया गया है। कलाकृतियों की प्रदर्शनियां प्रमुख नगरों में भी लगायी जा रही हैं।

इस अवसर पर वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्री श्री कैलाश विजयवर्गीय, प्रमुख सचिव ग्रामोद्योग श्रीमती कंचन जैन, प्रबंध संचालक हस्तशिल्प एवं हाथकरघा विकास निगम श्रीमती दीपाली रस्तोगी भी उपस्थित थीं।

मध्यप्रदेश उर्दू अकादेमी के तत्वावधान में मंगलवार 19 जुलाई को भोपाल में एक अदबी नशिस्त का आयोजन किया गया है। यह नशिस्त राजधानी के मुल्ला रमूज़ी संस्कृति भवन में सायं 7.30 बजे आयोजित की गई है। इस अवसर पर उर्दू साहित्य की सतत सेवा के लिये श्री घनश्याम तोमर को सम्मानित भी किया जायेगा। कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता उर्दू अकादेमी के अध्यक्ष पद्मश्री डॉ. बशीर बद्र करेंगे।

इस अवसर पर सर्वश्री नईम कौसर, खालिद आबिदी, रशीद अंजुम तथा इकबाल मसूद अपने विचार व्यक्त करेंगे। साथ ही सर्वश्री नजीब रामिश, अली अब्बास उम्मीद, अख्तर वामिक, ज़िया फारुखी, बेबाक भोपाली, सैफी सिरोंजी, सुश्री राना ज़ेबा तथा सुश्री ईशा नाज़ काव्य-पाठ करेंगी। कार्यक्रम का संचालन डॉ. अंजुम बाराबंकी करेंगे।
