Pratibha Devisingh Patil Opens 43rd Conference of Governors at Rashtrapati Bhavan

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil opened the 43rd Conference of Governors at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi today. In her opening address at the Conference, the President spoke about global recognition of India’s economic and technological prowess, the multiple challenges of terrorism, Left Wing Extremism and insurgency, the need for evolving a viable strategy for increasing production, productivity and profitability in rain fed areas, the role of Governors in the context of the 6th Schedule of the Constitution of India and the need for a multi-pronged strategy to combat and prevent corruption.
