  New Delhi, Oct., 29, 2011. The 10th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, 2012 (PBD-2012) will be held from 7-9 January, 2012 in Pink City – Jaipur. Union Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs and Civil Aviation Shri Vayalar Ravi reviewed the preparations of this mega event with concerned officials on Friday in New Delhi. He said that he himself visit Jaipur next month for on the spot review.

Shri Vayalar Ravi informed that the Chief Guest of PBD-2012 will be the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Ms. Kamla Persad Bissessar. The theme of PBD-2012 is “Global Indian-Inclusive Growth”. Shri Ravi further said that Rajasthan will be the partner State & CII will be institutional partner for the 10th PBD, which would provide the Diaspora an opportunity to understand the vibrant culture and potential of State.

          Union Minister Shri Ravi said that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will inaugurate this annual flagship event of the Overseas Indian Affairs Ministry on January 8th,2012 and President Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil will deliver the valedictory address on January 9 and confer the Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Awards. He also informed that seminars on various subjects will also be organized and many Union ministers along with prominent speakers from country & abroad will deliver their speeches in the conference. He said that Jaipur had been fixed as the venue of PBD-2012 on the request of Chief Minister of Rajasthan Shri Ashok Gehlot during the RANA Convention at New York (USA) in July last year.

The Union Minister said that approximately 1500 delegates are expected to participate in PBD-2012 from all over the world. He said that Government is making efforts to make PBD more meaningful and interactive event that would address issues and concerns of the overseas Indian community effectively. He also announced that the event would be webcast online and summary of proceedings will be put out everyday on website- www.pbdindia.org.  The interactive website would provide an opportunity for the Diaspora to participate in the conference from all parts of the world. Shri Ravi expects that all kind of support and cooperation from the Government of Rajasthan to make the 10th PBD-12 a grand success.

          Union Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) Principal Resident Commissioner of Rajasthan in Delhi Mrs. Seema Bahuguna & Additional Commissioner of Rajasthan Foundation,Jaipur Shri Vinod Ajmera were also presents in the meeting.
