No visible signs of oil slick on the sea surface near the site of pipeline leakage. However, 2 Coast Guard vessels are at site for surveillance & monitoring.
ONGC Multi support vessel “Samudra Prabha”, equipped with repair assessment facilities and divers has located the leakage point at 1 one Nautical Mile from BF platform. The most probable reason of leakage is fouling of anchor wire rope, of a construction barge working in the vicinity, with the sub-sea valve assembly of Mumbai High Trunk (MUT) line. Cleaning of the area with high pressure jets is underway to ascertain the extent of damage. All the required material for repairs is available on board MSVs. The line is expected to be repaired and normal flow restored in 4 to 5 days.
Operations at Western Offshore are nearly normal. Production from Western Offshore is presently at a level of 3,00,000 barrels per day (as against normal level of 3,20,000 BOPD). An oil tanker MS Swarna Brahmaputra, has also reached Mumbai High to be deployed at SBM. This will facilitate opening of wells closed due to operational constraints of handling crude in ICP-Heera line. Efforts are on for restoring the production from Vasai East field (~9000 BOPD) by diverting the oil through old BUT line by today evening.
