Eco-Friendly Vehicles Battle the Gas Guzzlers in Discovery Turbo’s Mean Green Machines –

In a world obsessed with carbon footprints and with the price of oil continuously rising, is it time to switch and be green? This September, Discovery Turbo brings viewers MEAN GREEN MACHINES, which tracks down the toughest and meanest machines moving today – pitting both green and gas vehicles in the same category against each other to determine which of them deserves to be crowned champion.

MEAN GREEN MACHINES is a turbocharged thrill ride jam-packed with the latest, fastest, and greenest vehicles, bikes, and even air-crafts. These machines are hot off the prototype assembly line and fresh from the most inventive eco-friendly minds in the world. MEAN GREEN MACHINES will air Monday to Friday at 11:30 pm, for two consecutive weeks starting September 09, on Discovery Turbo.

In each half-hour episode of MEAN GREEN MACHINES, the new and sometimes untested world of environmentally friendlier cars, bikes and even aircrafts are pitted against the old, reliable and traditionally superior world of gas. Each battling for the first place title in performance, these vehicles will compete in four challenges to test a variety of vehicular skills: endurance, speed, power and agility. While these various machines may seem similar at first glance, one look under the hood reveals that they are worlds apart.

Whether it’s an engineering professor riding his electric drag bike against one of the worlds fastest gas motorcycle drag racers, or the meanest SUV’s on the road competing for torque and speed against another SUV with a biodiesel engine, the outcome is often a surprise.

When a group of rag-tag bikers from Arizona show up with their 1970′s electric Land Rover, no one thought it’d win a single challenge against the buttoned down Goliath with his brand new Rover.

Viewers will also get a glimpse into what the next generation can expect when buying a silent motorcycle, or an emissions-free ATV. And while many of these automotive geniuses are still working on creating the best design for their battery packed engines, or finding ways to improve the vehicles’ long-term performance, MEAN GREEN MACHINES proves that the future is nearer than many think it is.
