March 31, 2010: It’s time now to blow the candles, cut the cake and sing out loud – A Very Very Happy Birthday to Tom & Jerry, the world’s most popular cat and mouse on their 70th birthday! The iconic characters today interacted with the media and the kids along with the stand up comedian Vir Das. They played pranks with the celebrities and kids present for their birthday celebration on the eve of April Fool’s day. The event saw the presence of crème de la crème of Delhi with their kids. Some of the names present at the celebration were Monisha Bajaj, Kanchan Kapoor, Jattin Kocchhar, Payal Kapur, Priya Jain, Payal Kapoor, Kalyany Chawla, Preeti S. Kapoor, Tanisha Mohan, Charu Parashar, Nidhi Jain, Payal Sen, Nida Mahmood, Garima Jain, Hemant and Nandita, Juhi Singh and Alia Madhu. India’s iconic Cartoonist Sudhir Tailang along with Monica Tata presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Tom and Jerry. Kids were thrilled to see their favorite cartoons performing live for them and interacting with them.
Cartoon Network, the no. 1 kids’ channel in India is celebrating Tom & Jerry’s 70th Birthday with an hour and a half of non-stop hilarious escapades in “Chooha Billi Chor Police” every Monday to Thursday from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Tom, the cat, is an opportunist, always crawling up to the powerful, whether it is the housekeeper, the dog, or even, on occasions, the mouse. While Jerry, the mouse, is a schemer, happy with his tiny little world until he is cornered or poked at. Together they form an incredible pair where constantly Tom chases Jerry and Jerry chases the cheese and from time to time, team up to get rid of an outside menace.
Bringing the TJ experience beyond the realms of television and into our lives is a well-etched “prank” themed campaign that will run until April 1 to give all Tom & Jerry fans an unforgettably funny and prank-filled experience with the duo’s world famous hijinks.
