Home Secretary visits Burail Jail and ISBT

The Home Secretary  UT Sh.Ram Niwas made a visit to the ISBT Sector 43 Bus Stand and  Burial Jail today in the morning . On his visit to Bus Stand Sector 43 with the Director Transport M.L Sharma, Chief Engineer Surinder Pal and Deputy Commissioner   Brijendra Singh, he found negligence on the part of the contractor looking the cleaning part of the Bus Stand.  The electronic sweeping machines were not in working condition and the number of machines were also less than the number as per the contract. He immediately ordered for the issuance of a notice for termination of the contract with the party for causing inconvenience to the general public.  He also checked if all the eateries in the bus stand had put up a complete rate list of their items at the stalls. He also ordered the shopkeepers to install electric sub meters within 15 days of time. He also inspected the condition of the kitchen area of the canteen. In addition to this it was decided that two areas on the premises of the bus stand i.e. fifteen Bays addition for operational buses and workshop area which will be inaugurated on Jan 26, 2010. The Home Secretary further ordered installation of more lights on the roof of the lounge, refurbishment of some Ticket counter and also the roads to fill up depression on the land, and beautify the area with landscapes.

Further, during his visit to Burail Jail, accompanied by the Chief Engineering Surinder Pal, Mr. NPS Randhawa and other officers of Chandigarh administration.  He ordered the Jail authorities to fill the tunnel dug by the escaped terrorists lodged in the jail with the concrete, as per the orders by the High Court. He also inspected the Kitchen where the food for inmates was being prepared. On his visit to Mulakat room he found that due to echo, it was not possible to talk in the room by the jail inmates with their relatives.  So he ordered to up-grade the Mulakat room and makes it sound proof.

During the meeting with jail authorities he ordered that Female ward, Additional Warder Line and Mess be made on the priority list. It was also decided the manual gate at the entry point to be replaced with motorized gate which can be managed by a single warder efficiently. In addition to this it was also decided to install Road Barrier and Tyre buster at Model Jail which foil any terrorist attack at security area.

From the security point of view it was decided to purchase Night vision
